I took this picture. Kinga go home!

The stuff that was hot when my dad was in High School. Am I right in thinking that the only models from this generation that are popular, still today, and likely so in the future, will only be the keystone style examples? Like this Chevy? Is there any chance for anything else from this age or is it all dead with the dying boomers?

Their prices have fallen. Desire seems low, but will anything hang on and resist the plunge?

57 Chevy’s still seem expensive when I look at them.  The rest of the 50's and 60's cars seem to have taken quite a hit.

I don’t think they’ve taken THAT big of a hit, at least, anything that’s not a total rust pile. The fact that a lot of people selling them are still in a position where they don’t really “need” to sell them fast is part of it, I think the real deep  crash, if it happens, is still maybe a decade away.

S ome may retain raw dollar value, but appreciation is done, and there will be slight depreciation. I look at it similar to what has happened to mass market 20s-40s cars.   That nice driver quality Model A roadster that was 20K-ish in 1985 is still around 20K.

Y’k no w, s ilver usually bores me, but s ometimes a good angle and the right lighting will make it work.

It probably also helps when the car isn’t another damn Camry lol

Yeah, but unless you are a fan of the style, what from this era is even worth the money? No power, no brakes. Not even very comfortable. The only thing I would want would be a convertible.

Just looking at the 60's vehicles I’m interested in, I could never find a nice example of a 1st gen Camaro or Mustang, or a 68-72 C-10, that would be priced anywhere near what I would be willing to pay for it. Now I often see some that are pretty close . If you are looking for a perfect Z-28 or a perfect GT-350 they are still outrage ou sly expensive . But a mid level V-8 car or truck with a manual without rust seem to be find-able in the mid $ 20 thousands .  That is undoubtedly a whole lot less than owners or prior owners have put into them.

I think both the age demographic and the current new car market have had a seriou s effect. Into the early 2000's there weren’t that many choices to get to 19 60's car horsepower in a new car. Now there are so many new car choice s that dwarf 19 60's muscle car HP. And along with that you get im pr o ved quality, better handling, and far more features and creature comfort s.

Bu t you ar e probably right. As older folks die off and the kids inherit Dad’s old 1957 Chevy that none of them ever liked, they, and every other car of the era are going to be come more prevalent on the market. If  you are in your 20's or 30's and you like cars from the 50's and 60's they are probably going to get much more affordable over the next decade .

Which is great for me, at some point I’d love a ‘46/47/48/first half 49 Fluid Drive Chrysler with the flat head 6, or, maybe one of the ‘57 or ‘58 Forward Look cars. You can get a rough around the edges, but running example for pretty cheap now, but really nice ones seem to still be about the same as they were 10-15 years ago. Which is cheaper in real money, thanks inflation, but not a bottom dropping out of the market thing, more a gradual cooling off.

None of them should be popular so that I can afford to get a 65 Biscayne or a 67/68 Fleetwood...
